SUSPENSEFUL!!!!

Have to admit Dexter Bates-worked my nerves in such a way. Bates is an evil man out for revenge, and he doesn't care who he has to hurt to get it. I read this book months ago and I still find myself saying often "its a simple matter of respect"(you have to read the book to understand). This is a GOOD book. I have read all of Brandon Massey's books - not one has disappointed me. Brandon Massey is a GREAT AUTHOR!!!

Disappointing

This book left such a bad taste in my mouth I couldn't get halfway through it. It's not just that the plot seemed thin and a bit thrown together. It's that the misogynistic and profane references to violence against women seemed unnecessary, overdone and like a poor substitute for character development. Further, many of the characters seemed like TV stereotypes or even caricatures. One example would be the Rachel's Mother-n-Law. She seemed like a combination of the Mammy's and Saphire's that have been traditionally featured in books and films as emasculators of Black men. I purchased this book hoping that it would be as entertaining as The Other Brother or Within the Shadows. These novels seemed more developed and the supernatural twist made them interesting. But, this book almost seemed like it was written by a different author. I hope Mr. Massey's next book is better. He certainly has talent and I would give his next book a chance. But, I would NOT recommend this one.

I am not one for thrillers. Yet, Massey's Don't Ever Tell grabbed me from page one and had me up late reading. I turned off the TV for hours so I could read. I have to admit Massey's books I have scanned through scare me. This work had me on the edge waiting for Dexter to get what he deserved. Joshua grew on me and loved him in the end for what he did. This was a ver good read for me.

Massey is known by some for his shocking horror novels but the world will surely take notice with this new suspenseful tale. The story begins with Dexter Bates, ex-cop sentenced 10-years for attempted murder, orchestrating a prison escape. Dexter calls in old favors to accomplish his mission which is to get his old life back - wife, money, and controlling the streets.
Joy Bates was terrified of her ex-husband - Dexter. She totally cut herself off from her old life - home, family, and friends. She was now Rachel Hall Moore, happily married, salon owner and mother-to-be. While putting the finishing touches on a client's hair she received an emergency phone call and within hours she disappears again. Leaving an encrypted note, Rachel is determined to keep her husband safe without disclosing the details of her past.
Joshua loved Rachel with all of his heart. But lately she seems to be acting strangely, making him realize that she has a few things that she isn't talking about. He has never met any of her family, she doesn't talk about her past, and why is her computer password protected? The day he was going to address his concerns, she left him a dear Joshua note - and she was gone. Determined to uncover her secrets and bring her back home, he would have to man up and fight for her.
Massey proves his amazing talent as a suspense author. Don't Ever Tell will grab your attention from the first word taking you hostage until the last syllable. At times, this reader wanted Rachel to tell her husband the truth--wanted Joshua to man up--wanted someone to protect Rachel's friends and family but each page was a different surprise. Massey is a superb storyteller and a master of suspense - believe me you won't be disappointed as this story will let you know what happens when you don't tell the truth.
